Eligibility Criteria
1. Nationality
Must be
an Indian citizen. .
2. Age Limit (as on 01 January 2027) .
Flying Branch: 20 – 24 years. .
Flying Branch (with valid CPL): Up to 26 years
(if candidate holds a valid Commercial Pilot License) .
Ground Duty (Tech & Non-Tech): 20 – 26
years. .

Selection Process
1. AFCAT Written Exam
a.
Computer-based test. .
b.
Subjects: Verbal Ability
in English, General Awareness, Numerical Ability, Reasoning & Military
Aptitude. .
c.
Marking Scheme: +3 for
correct, –1 for wrong (typical) as per exam guides. .
d.
Note: Some older cycles
had an “Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT)” for tech branch; but some sources
suggest changes. .
2.
AFSB Interview (Selection Board)
A. Stage I: OIR (Officer Intelligence Rating) +

B. Stage II: Psychological Tests + Group Tasks +
Personal Interview. .
C. For Flying Branch: There is a CPSS (Computerized
Pilot Selection System) test. .

Medical Examination
After
AFSB, candidates must clear medical fitness tests per IAF standards. .

Pay Scale for Flying Officer: Level 10 on 7th
CPC → ₹ 56,100 – ₹ 1,77,500. .
Military Service Pay
(MSP): ₹ 15,500 per month. .
Stipend during Training: ~ ₹ 56,100 per month (for training period).

Allowances: Depending on role — Flying Allowance, Technical
Allowance, Risk Allowance, Transport Allowance, etc. .
Other Benefits: Accommodation, medical cover, canteen (CSD),

3.Fill Application
Details: Enter personal

Important Tips & Advice
Read Notification
Carefully: Always go through the detailed
notification PDF when applying. It has all branch-wise detail, eligibility,
exam centre information, and other critical rules.
Age & Date of Birth: Make sure your DOB matches exactly
(matriculation certificate) because IAF usually takes from matriculation/high
school.
Prepare for AFSB: The written exam is just Step 1. Clearing AFSB
(interview + psychological + group) is equally important.
Medical Fitness: Ensure you meet IAF’s medical standards;
selection is subject to medical fitness.
Mock Tests: Try practice/mock tests for AFCAT — especially
for reasoning, numerical, & verbal sections.
Time Management: During the exam, manage your time well since
there are negative marks for wrong answers.
